HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in April 1981.
CONDITION
The King Quartz was an upper mid range watch, below the Superior and Grand Quartz, but above the Lord Quartz and regular ranges. Much like a E class Mercedes gets the trickle down technology from the S Class, this King Quartz gets a twin quartz movement that was originally in the Grand Quartz with a slightly different movement number 9923 vs 9943). One quartz crystal regulates the time, and the second regulates for temperature, so these claimed to be accurate to 20 seconds per year, which is might impressive. The textured dial is very clean, and the glass perfect. The day and date can be quick set, and the day is in English and Kanji. The watch would have originally come on a bracelet, but this has been lost over time. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.
