This men’s automatic Seiko 5, model number 7009-202A, is in New Old Stock (NOS) condition and still has the original, priced hang tag attached.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in March 1981.

CONDITION

The watch appears to have never been worn.  It has not been polished, but with so few marks it is as good an example as you are likely to find.  The hang tag is still attached, stating the model code SCWLO1K and a retail price of $105 (We can not be 100% sure that this is US dollars).

The 7009A movement, with 17 jewels, is automatic wind only but starts up quickly and runs nicely.  The date is quickset, and the day wheel is either in English or Roman numerals.  This is quick set by pushing the crown inwards.  The Hardlex crystal is unmarked, as is the dial.  The hands and the hour markers still have a little lume left, but not much.  Finding mechanical watches from the early eighties is a hard job, as the vast majority of watches were quartz powered.  To find on in this condition is a really pleasing catch.

This watch will be supplied with the original hang tag and our Certificate of Authenticity.
