A good condition Seiko 5, easily dated to 1981, with blue dial and original stainless steel bracelet.  Model  number 7009-876A

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in June 1981.  The 7009 movement was made between 1977 and 1988, meaning there can be no mistake.

CONDITION

Ask any watch forum on the internet and when someone asks which watch to buy for under £100, preferably an automatic, and the top answers will always include a Seiko 5.  There is plenty of choice, but they are great value for money.

This model has an attractive blue lined dial, set off with gilt hands and markers.  Both dial and hands are lumed, but it isn’t very bright now.  The case and bracelet are all stainless steel, and they have been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath to ensure they are ready to wear.  We have also replaced the mineral glass to reveal that great dial to its most.  The 7009A movement is running nicely, and like the majority of Seiko watches this needs to be wound by movement – it can not be wound via the crown.  if you press the crown inwards the quick set day (with an English and French day wheel) changes, and if you pull the crown out to the first position you can quick set the date.  The bracelet is full length for the European market – watches intended for Asia had smaller bracelets.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
