The PR516 divers watch from Tissot is a classic, and this one has just been fully serviced and has box and papers. Model reference 40739.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Whilst we have the paperwork for this watch, the serial number is not completed so it could have been matched to the watch at a later date. But when we check the serial number against the database the watch was also made in 1980, so it is likely the papers are original and were just sloppily completed by the original jewellers.
CONDITION
We have had one of these before, and we really liked it so we bought another! This one has the original sprung bracelet, with the PR516 logo on the clasp. The PR in PR516 stands for Particularly Robust, and this range were introduced in the late 1960’s. Sadly this watch wasn’t running perfectly, so we had the watch fully serviced (as you can with earlier quartz watches), so the Tissot 2031 movement is now running perfectly. This includes the push crown to advance the time by one second, which can be a weak spot if the seals are old. The dial is excellent and the big lumed hands provide excellent contrast. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
