HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1980. This reference was launched in 1980, as shown on Omega’s own website here.
CONDITION
A classic combination of the early 1980’s, this watch has all the ingredients that were required then. Quartz movement, a slim, gold plated case that is not round, these went on to inspire hundreds of different watches in the next few years. The case is 20 micron plated, and has a few marks but overall presents well. Inside the case lies Omega’s calibre 1351 movement, which has no conventional crown. Instead you press the button that is inset into the space where the crown would normally be to advance the hands. The movement should be so accurate that you only need to adjust the hands for daylight saving hours and after battery changes, but if you do like to set the hands to ten past ten for a photo then it is not the system for you. The black dial has a pattern on it that is very feint, but designed to look like a raised grid pattern. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
