In 1980 Omega were making high end quartz movements, like the one utilised in this De Ville.  Model reference 196.0201.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1980.

CONDITION

Omega used to develop their own quartz movements. from the early 1970’s through to the take over by Swatch (who also owned ETA). We have not seen a ETA quartz movement finished to the standard of the calibre 1332 in this Omega.  It has Côtes de Genève stripes on its metal bridges and plates, 17 jewels and a trimmer for extra fine tuning.  It was also developed to be so accurate that changing the minute or second hand could only be done with a thin tool, such as a cocktail stick.  You can advance or retard the hours via the signed crown, and by advancing the hours by 24 you can quick set the date too.  But to adjust the minutes or seconds you need to press and hold the button in the case at 2, and then release and repress it to advance the seconds and minutes.  We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.  The dial is a nice shade of grey, and has applied markers.  At some angles there looks to be some light patina between the hour markers, but this disappears most of the time.  The coin edge bezel is a small but nice feature that helps light bounce from the stainless steel case.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
