Fitted with the fabulous Longines 994.1 in house auto movement in a stainless steel case, with the benefit of box and papers.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied paperwork (which we have checked matches the watch) we can accurately date this watch to being sold in December 1980.
CONDITION
The watch is in very good order. The stainless steel case is great, as is the long bracelet that has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath so it is ready to wear. The Longines 944.1 movement was introduced in 1977, and was the thinnest automatic with date and sweep seconds ever produced at the time. This version does away with the seconds hand, but the 25 jewel movement does have a full quick set date facility and micrometer adjustment, all in a movement less than 3mm thick. This is superb horology! The glass does have a small scratch near 1, and the box has a broken hinge, but these are minor. The rectangular case wears larger than round cases, as outlined here.
