This is a Speedmaster like no other. Model 368.0009 is an LCD Omega Speedmaster, and would have been about the coolest watch available in 1979.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the original movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1979.
CONDITION
The 1620 movement was a very high quality quartz movement, capable of running at 0.15 of a second deviation a day, thanks to thermocompensation that is rarely seen even today. This thread on a forum is a superb breakdown of the technicalities of the watch, and the writer also says that this gold plated model is seldom seen. And this Omega Speedmaster LCD website has scans of the original instruction book, which could prove handy.
This example has the original bracelet, which has not had any links removed and is full length. The clasp is also original, stamped EX.1318.291 like the one shown on the forum post, and has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The mineral crystal does have a few small scratches and nibbles. The watch is fully functional, even the light works, and we are very pleased to be able to offer this watch.
