HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in February 1979.

CONDITION

The watch is in lovely shape.  The dial in particular is close to perfect.  The case and bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath, and we replaced the crystal as it was scratched for a new one.  The case and bracelet are all stainless steel, and has a geometric pattern etched all across it, even across the clasp.  While the bracelet looks integrated, it could be swapped for a leather strap for variety, and the drilled lugs make this quite easy.  The bracelet does have an unusual mark above 11 that looks at its worst in the photos.  The 14A Seiko movement was quite advanced for the time in regard to the miniaturisation – this was only a decade since Seiko launched the World’s first quartz watch, and to squeeze everything needed into a small ladies watch was quite impressive.  Looking at the 1979 catalogue the quartz watches were also approximately double the cost of the manual wind watches.  We have fitted a new battery, so it is ready to wear.

This watch will be supplied with a presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
