Lapis Lazuli dials are are rare and highly collected, and this ladies Longines has more to offer too.  Model reference 3941.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

Having sent Longines clear photos of the watch, including the movement serial number as well as the case, they have confirmed it was invoiced to their then UK distributor Baume in 1979.

CONDITION

Lapis Lazuli means blue stone, and the material has been prized for millennia.  Egyptians used it to make blue cosmetics, and renaissance painters used it to make very expensive paints (you will often not see blue in old paintings as it was so expensive to produce the paint). On a watch dial it is difficult to produce, and the gold fleck inclusions within the Lapis Lazuli match with the 9k gold case.  The case itself is unusual in having the pattern around the side, and of course that pattern requires more of the precious material.  With all the expensive of the dial and the case Longines did not skimp on the movement either – the 17 jewel, manual wind calibre 817.4 has micro adjustment which is barely ever seen on a ladies movement.  The Longines leather strap is new, and also has a Longines gold plated buckle fitted.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
