This Favre-Leuba is a really chunky piece of very cool 70’s watchmaking, from a company that has been making watches since 1737.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied original guarantee we can accurately date this watch to 1979.
CONDITION
The box is unbranded, so we can’t be 100% certain it is a Favre-Leuba box. However, it has clearly been with this watch for some time, judging by how the original guarantee is bent to fit the box. The dial is fabulous in design and condition, and is shown off with a new acrylic crystal. The hands do need aligning to be accurate, but we will do this soon and update the pictures and text. The case and bracelet are all solid steel, and quite a weight, but do show signs of being worn. The case back also has tool marks. Nothing has been polished, so many of these marks could be removed if the new owner wanted – but we prefer originality. The automatic day date movement, calibre FL1164, is a high beat 36,000bph powerhouse with micro adjustment regulation. This watch appeals visually and technically. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
SIZE
Approximately 39.5 mm wide including the signed crown, 11.6 mm thick. The bracelet will fit a maximum wrist size of approximately 200 mm.
