HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in April 1978.
CONDITION
The King Quartz sat above the LM models, and below the Grand Quartz in Seiko’s model line up. This one has a day date movement, with the ability to quick set both. You can set the language for the day to either English or Kanji, and the weekend shows in blue for Saturday and red for Sunday. Everything is working very well, and the watch is still very accurate – gaining just 1/3rd of a second a day. The blue dial is original and does show some signs of age, as there is patina spots on the dial visible at some angles. The hands are still very legible though. The case has various marks, proof that this watch wasn’t a safe queen but also helps explain the attractive price. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet isn’t the original, and not made by Seiko, but it does suit the watch very well. It is full length, and doesn’t require any special tools to adjust it either, and it has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
