A nice and clean Seiko men’s automatic watch from 1978, with the slightly rarer calibre 7025A inside. Model reference 7025-8120.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in March 1978.
CONDITION
Seiko movements definitely follow evolution rather than revolution. The movement in this watch is still the basis for the 7S26A that is still in production today – if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it! The 7025A automatic movement (Seiko model numbers are calibre first, then model number hence 7025-8120, with 8120 being the model number) is a seventeen jewel with quickset date and Seiko’s usual frog leg design to allow the movement to be wound whichever way the rotor is turning. The only thing you can not do with these movement is handwind them. The case is all stainless steel and is so good it may have been polished. The dial is exceptionally clean. The bracelet is an aftermarket item that has been fitted with a Seiko clasp – originally this may have had a Seiko bracelet, but this has been replaced over the years. You could also pair this watch with brown or black leather straps to create a very different look inexpensively.
