Piaget watches are always high quality, and this oval cased example is no exception to that rule.  Model reference 13501.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

We sent photos of the watch and the serial number on the case back to Piaget and they confirmed it was made in 1978.

CONDITION

Piaget are reknown for their ultrathin models.  Strictly speaking ultrathin watches are in cases under 5mm thick, and this is half a millimetre too thick.  But given this is an automatic and has a calendar we will forgive it!  The cheapest new Piaget ultra thin watch is £13,900, and that is manual wind, no calendar and 6.3mm thick.  The movement is Piaget’s own calibre 12PC1.  This has a microrotor automatic system, with the oscillating weight made from 24K gold.  It also has 30 jewels, was adjusted to six positions, and is very thin at under 3mm tall.  This is remarkable for an automatic calendar movement, and this watch has just been serviced by Piaget themselves.  Like all Piaget watches since the mid fifties the case is precious metal, 18k yellow gold in this example, and the oval design is different yet not too dissimilar to the Patek Philippe Ellipse models (albeit angled 90 degrees differently.)  The dial is a raised Clous de Paris pattern, and very good – the best Clous de Paris dial we have ever seen!  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.  The original buckle is still in place, again in 18k gold.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
