Any Seiko Grand Quartz with a gold dust dial is sought after, and the TV dial case just makes this even more 1970’s.  Model reference 4842-5011

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in January 1977.

The 4842-5011 watch, also known as QNJ604, originally cost ¥75,000, which made it cheaper than most of the Grand Seiko range.  Part of the reason was that this was one of the very few Grand Seiko watches of the period that originally came without a bracelet, as shown in the catalogue picture we have provided.  We have tried to fit a close match to the strap that this watch would have originally worn.  As a more entry level Grand Quartz, it was still more than three times the price of an automatic chronograph, so it was not a cheap watch to buy back in 1977.  The Grand Quartz were the shining stars of the Seiko range (now rebranded Grand Seiko), and featured the highest quality components and finish of anything that left the Suwa factory.  The dial is original and excellent, although the glass does have a few scratches and marks.  The signed crown is also original, featuring the crystal logo also used on the dial.  The caseback has an inscription in Japanese, possibly for 20 years service (20 is the only part we can read!).  We will fit a new battery to this watch before sending it out.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
