This rarer Seiko chronograph has just has a massive service – done so that you don’t have to worry about it.  Model reference 7016-7000

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in February 1977.

CONDITION

The 7016 movement differs over the more common 6139 movement by being able to measure up to 12 hours, instead of just 30 minutes of the simpler 6139.  The most famous (and expensive) examples that use a 7016 movement are the Seiko ‘Monaco’, nicknamed as it has a squared case like the Heuer, but the model we have here looks little different to the more basic 6139.  This particular watch has had a thorough service by a marque specialist, having many new parts fitted internally but the cosmetics left alone, so the dial and hands show the age they are.  One of the biggest jobs on the service was to upgrade the movement and fit a jewel to the barrel bush on the mainplate – the plate can wear into an ovoid shape and that is not good, so the watchmaker fitted a jewel to repair the original wear and ensure it doesn’t happen again.  Complex work, but it is a complex watch.

You also get a day date calendar, in either French or English, and we have also fitted a high quality Geckota leather strap in a complementary slate grey.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
