HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1977. According to Omega’s own website, this model was launched in 1977 too.
CONDITION
The Seamaster range was first launched in 1948, and they looked nothing like the 300M divers watches we are familiar with today either. Strangely, this watch we have here is more accurate than even a brand new Seamaster – the quartz movement in this watch is gaining just one one-hundredth of a second a day. In reality it might be a little different, depending on factors like temperature and angle, but as a starting point it is close to perfect. Fitted inside the case is a on Omega calibre 1315, and eleven jewel quartz movement with trimmer that has allowed us to adjust the watch down to such fine tolerances. This movement also allows you to adjust just the hour hand via the crown, ideal for time zone changes or seasonal time resets. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The case is larger than average for the time, and is 20 micron gold plated. There is some wear on the top edges of the case. The dial is all original, with just minor spotting. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown.
