HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1977.
CONDITION
Some people may look at this Seamaster and wonder why is this not a steel divers watch? In truth the Seamaster name has been used in a wide variety of watch styles, so this gold plated example is just reflecting what the market wanted in 1977. This watch is in very good condition for a gold plated watch, and few could afford a solid gold bracelet watch in 1977 as gold was very expensive in the 1970’s (it quadrupled in value in ten years!). The dial is particularly clean. The movement is Omega’s in house quartz, calibre 1345, which has 7 jewel and all the latest tech – you can adjust the hour hand independently to the minute hand, ideal for time zone changes, and quick set the date by flicking this through 24 hours. You first set the day wheel, and then use the pusher at 4 to advance the date. The pusher set into the crown sets the minute and second hand – Omega deemed these quartz watches so accurate that you wouldn’t need to do this very often. All functions work, and we will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is an Omega 1297/263 and is a good length, and it has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The case has the lightest of wear and a few small dinks, that look far worse under studio lights and enlarged photos than in real life. You will have to search long and hard for a better example.
