HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in December 1977.

CONDITION

Japanese vintage watches continue to be the best value.  This Citizen has a stainless steel case, which shows surface scratches but nothing more.  The mineral glass is perfect, as are the hands.  The day wheel is slightly darker that the day wheel, but let’s look at the dial.  The blue dial is in great condition, and features an unusual patterning that would have been applied at the factory.  At first you might think the glass is dirty, but then the dial catches the light in wonderful ways and hopefully the video will pick this up.  The stainless steel bracelet is not marked Citizen , so may be a later replacement.  It doesn’t require any special tools to adjust the bracelet, and it could be swapped for a leather strap if required.  Both day and date are quickset, with the day wheel being in either English or French.

Please see the HD video below for more detail.
