HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in June 1976.
CONDITION
The 6309 A movement was first launched in 1976, and ran for 12 years. That means that under the Seiko dating system this watch could have been made in either 1976 or 1986, but the styling in the mid seventies compared to the mid eighties was very different – by the eighties everything was thin, often gold plated and almost always quartz. The movement is automatic wind only, so starts with a shake, and has quick set day and date. The day can be in either English or roman numerals, and the Sunday in either is in red. The case has been cleaned by hand, and the bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath – this watch has a solid link bracelet which is a big step up in quality from Seiko folded metal bracelets of the lower model 5. The lined dial is particularly nice and clean, and the acrylic crystal has been polished to remove almost all marks.
