An unusual SQ (Seiko Quartz) 4004 model, with green dial and original bracelet. Model reference 0903-8007
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in February 1975.
CONDITION
The 4004 (and 3003) range were launched in 1974, and were not cheap. This is only five years since Seiko launched the world’s first quartz watch on Christmas day 1969, and the technology was still being developed and improved. The 0903 movement was designed to be able to be stripped down like a mechanical watch, and to see it still working well after all these years is testament to the original design. The 0903 has quickset day and date, and the day can be set to three settings – English, Roman numerals and Kanji. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The green dial is very nice, working well with the gold plated case, bracelet and matching hands. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath, and has the original clasp which is showing some wear to the plating. The bracelet is short, and we have no spare links, but it could be swapped for a leather strap if preferred. The glass has a few small scratches.
