A slim, barrel shaped manual wind De Ville that is also affordable for a vintage Omega.  Model reference 111.0132

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1975.

CONDITION

The De Ville range in the 1970’s gave the designers quite the freedom to experiment with different case shapes, and this barrel version was very popular.  Around the same time Vacheron Constantin were using different shapes on their ultrathin range, and Patek Philippe also launched the Ellipse, so it was clearly in fashion.  Inside is a 17 jewel Omega calibre 625, manually wound and running well.  This thin movement allowed a very slim case too – no danger of this watch getting stuck under a cuff.  The black on the case back is the liquid seal Omega used at this time – horrible stuff to see but it works well.  The dial has just small dots of debris, and the hands are straight and true.  The case is 20 micron gold plated, and overall is good – the design means very strong lugs.  There is a small mark on the non crown side of the case, shown in the photos, but there is very little wear to the plating.  The crown has the cabochon polished stone in the crown is not chipped. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
