An 18k gold Swiss vintage Tudor Prince Date watch, complete with box and papers, and an automatic movement with calendar.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the inscription on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being given in 1974.  This date also matches the date on the supplied paperwork, but we can not find any guide to see if this watch is model 14600 as the paperwork states.

CONDITION

The watch is in superb condition.  It came to us on a NSA gold plated strap, which looks period, but we have put the watch onto a new black leather strap – the steel strap is harder than the 18k gold case, so could damage it.  But is hasn’t, which indicates the watch hasn’t been worn too much.  The back is engraved RV 1974 on the outside, and Tudor 18k with the Helvetia Swiss hallmark on the inside, so we know that this is a Swiss made case.  The dial, with the Tudor logo shield at 12, is in very good condition.  The crown also features this logo.  Inside the three piece solid gold case is an uprated ETA 2772 – this version is decorated, and has 25 jewels and hacking seconds fitted.  The movement also features a semi quickset date, using the 24-20-24 method shown in the video.  We will include the bracelet in the sale for the sake of originality, but not recommend you fit it.

This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, papers, NSA Bracelet and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.

NB:  By sheer coincidence this watch is our stock number 1485.  We are a Leicestershire company, and in the year 1485 the Tudor dynasty started following the defeat of Richard III in Leicestershire.  How odd!
