A nice example of the automatic Geneve model from Omega – a classic dress watch that could really be from any period.  Model reference 166.0163.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number hallmark on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1974.  This range was launched in 1973, and you can see the same model on Omega’s own website here.

CONDITION

The original Geneve models were named after the city, as Omega won Observatory awards in Geneva for accuracy.  In 1952 the Geneve model was one of the very top of the range watches, but the model was repositioned to be more of their entry level watch by the 1960’s.  They use the same movements as the De Ville and Seamaster ranges, so technically they are very similar.  This watch has the calibre 1012 automatic, which has quick set date and hacking which are accessed via the signed crown.  The worst part of this example is the gold plating on the top left lug has worn.  The dial is very good, and the acrylic crystal is signed with the Omega Ω symbol in the centre.  The strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
