HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied paperwork that matches the case back numbers we can accurately date this watch to being sold in December 1974.
CONDITION
Le Cheminant watches can have their history traced back to 1822, and this example features the usual over engineering that makes them stand out. For example, most ladies cocktail watches would have a simple clip on case back, but this one has a screw down case back to improve the water resistance. The 17 jewel hand winding movement, an ETA 2512, runs at 21,600 bph rather than the standard 18,000 bph. Le Cheminant could have specified a cheaper movement, but they didn’t. The gold plated case could have been 10 microns thick, but it is 20 microns. All these details make the watch just that bit nicer. The plating on the crown has come away, but it still functions perfectly. We have added a new leather strap and a new crystal to make the watch ready to wear, and it is keeping good time.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, papers and our Certificate of Authenticity.
