With a nice engraving and a recent service this Girard-Perregaux Gyromatic is ready to wear and enjoy.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the inscription on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being engraved in 1974. It could have been made earlier, but with Girard-Perregaux not having complete serial number databases the engraving is the most obvious dating method.
CONDITION
Girard-Perregaux watches are not cheap – the steel, automatic 1966 model with calendar available new today costs $9,100 plus VAT. So this genuine vintage watch looks to be great value for money. We know this watch was sold in 2022 by a different company and they state the watch was fully serviced before being sent out, and that document will be included. The in house calibre 42.2 movement is certainly running well, and has the hack facility to precisely set the time. Co-developed with Doxa, Eberhard, Favre-Leuba and Zodiac the Gyromatic movement also has semi quick set date and a worm screw fine adjustment for the balance. The dial is very clean, and it is nice to see the original signed crown still in place. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
