This men’s vintage Tissot Navigator divers style watch is an easy choice for to wear casually, as it is a good size and a great look.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the in house Tissot movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1973.
CONDITION
To claim this movement is in house is stretching the truth a little – it was made by Tissot and Omega, with the Omega versions being badged calibre 1481 and Tissot versions were calibre 2481. They do have a weakness, and that is the quick set date can fail. It works perfectly in this watch, as shown in the video, but there are a lot of Omega watches out there with Tissot 2481 replacement movements.
We have a 37 mm stainless steel C style case, with 18mm lugs, so this style is always going to be popular. The watch is currently fitted with a trimmed 20mm carbon fibre look strap, but if you would prefer an 18mm strap we can fit that for free. We left the current strap on because it looks good! The case has a few marks, especially on the lugs, but they are not immediately noticeable without close scrutiny. The bezel is nice, faded slightly (sometimes called a ghost bezel). The bezel doesn’t click unidirectionally like a true divers watch, but we would never recommend getting any vintage watch wet anyway. The dial is excellent, as are the correct hands. The original signed crown remains on the watch. The original Tissot Navigator was launched in 1951, with 24 time zones, but this 1970’s watch is far more wearable today.
