This f300 Constellation from Omega uses the 300 hz frequency movement, often known as a hummer.  Model reference 198.0034.

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1973.

Many people who read this will know this, but an f300 electronic movement does not contain any quartz crystal to regulate the timekeeping.  Instead they use a pair of tuning forks, vibrating at a constant 300 Hz, to calculate the time (hence f300).  This amazingly high frequency leads to an incredibly smooth seconds hand – for comparison a sweep seconds hand on most Rolex models run at 4hz.  The technology was developed by Bulova, and this is acknowledged inside the case back.  This example has a nice champagne dial along with day and date calendar in English.  The gold plated case does have some dings, particularly near the crown, and the crown has lost its gold capping.  We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.  We have shown the watch on a fun rubber strap too just to demonstrate how different the watch can look with a different strap.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon.  By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
