HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1973.
CONDITION
A mechanical vintage Omega at this price? You may be asking what is wrong with is, and the answer to that is very little indeed. The 17 jewel, manual wind calibre 625 movement is working nicely, the dial is clean and the hands straight. The gold plated case is not badly worn, although there are dimples on the crown side (possibly caused by a bracelet worn on the same wrist knocking into the watch case). The acrylic glass is the original one, signed with the Ω symbol in the centre. The crown is also signed, which on a hand wound watch is an indicator it hasn’t been worn daily (you need to wind the crown to power the watch, and if it had been used over 15,000 times it would likely need to be swapped at service). The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred although the options at 11mm are limited. The only reason it is so cheap is that fewer women appreciate vintage watches then men – if this were a men’s watch it would be three times the price.
