A great looking and easy wearing Breitling Chronograph with three register panda dial.  Model Reference 815.

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1973.

In case you haven’t clicked, a panda dial is a white dial with black subdials.  a reverse panda is a black dial with white or silver subdials.  Named after the panda bear.

Let’s start with the case.  A 38mm Stainless steel case with pump pushers, there is little not to like.  It is unpolished, so shows some marks, but very little for the 45+ years.  The the movement is accessed via the screw down case back.  Once this is removed you then find the dust cover, an item that is often lost, and under this is the Valjoux 7736 movement where everything is working as expected.  The movement is stamped Breitling, and the crown also carries the Breitling ‘B’ logo.  The dial is quite clean, although not perfect, and the subdials have a slight purple tint to the black where they have just started to fade, or become tropical if we want to boost the value. It’s quite a pleasing effect and will show best in the video.  There is a small scratch near six right at the edge of the dial, maybe 2mm across.  The hands haven’t lost any of their tritium lume.  The strap is a 20mm nylon NATO style that suits the watch well, but a 19mm leather strap could be fitted if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
