Made to railroad standard, the Seiko Second Setting pocket watch was the last mechanical railroad watch Seiko made.  Model reference 6110-0010 or 61RW.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in April 1972.  Production of this second setting model started in early 1972 and ran until 1978.

CONDITION

Timekeeping is critical in railway operations, as if different stationmasters had watches reading different times then horrific accidents could – and did – happen where trains collided.  Seiko have a long history of meeting the demands of the Japanese railways, and the Second Setting does just that – it has a hacking system to allow for perfect time setting but stopping the second hand.   This example is not engraved, so may have been a civilian version of the same watch.  Condition is excellent – it may have rarely been out of the branded, fitted box and still has the string rope instead of a chain.  The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and box

This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.  The box has some oriental writing, possibly Japanese, on the inside or the hinge.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
