A fully working Lord Matic from Seiko, with a very clean dial. Model reference 5606-6000.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in April 1972.
CONDITION
The Lord Matic was the mid range Seiko model of the day. It was thinner than the lower models, and the movement has the ability to hack and hand wind where most Seiko’s did not. The 23 jewel 5606A calibre movement was actually the base for many King Seiko models too, but it does have a weakness – the day date mechanism is fragile. This is working fine in this example, but never try and adjust the quick set date with the hour hand past 8pm – the quick set and the natural overnight change mechanism clash, and the quick set components break. They are now unobtainable so this part of the watch, shown working in the video, can not be covered by the warranty. However the quick set is working now, and has worked for 50+ years, and providing the quick set is not used past 8pm should continue to work fine. The day wheel is in either English or Spanish. The stainless steel case is free of dings, but the crown is slightly dented but working perfectly. The fine mesh original bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath, and has the LM clasp too. There is a small link broken, shown in the video, but these are rare survivors in any condition and this is still wearable and full length to boot. This Lord Matic has the glass instead of plastic crystal, and this is free from scratches.
