With a 40mm case and 20mm lugs, this vintage Seiko is larger than most watches of the time. Model reference 7006-7080.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in October 1972. The 7006 movement was in production between 1971 and 1981, ruling out any other possibility.
CONDITION
Vintage Seiko watches are always popular, as they last well and look great while not costing the earth. This watch has a stainless steel case with very strong lugs and recessed crown. Recessed crowns can make winding watches very difficult, but the Seiko 7006A calibre fitted to this is not equipped to manually wind, so the recessed crown is just more comfortable and very well protected from knocks. The case is unpolished and does show some marks, particularly to the top of the case near 2 minutes as shown on the video. The dial is a lovely design and in good condition – the bar across the centre is brushed in a different direction to the rest of the dial, showing up as different shades in different lights. The acrylic glass is new. The date can be quick set, but the day is only semi quick set. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
