This f300 Constellation has the most fantastic dial and could not be more 1970’s! Model reference 198.0034
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1972. We can see on Omega’s own website that this was the launch year for this model.
CONDITION
The gold plating to the C shaped case (named after the Constellation, so quite fitting) is very good. This is not a surprise as it is 80 microns thick. Good brands often use 20 micron plating, so this is very thick, and is actually described as gold capped in the brochure we found. The crystal is the signed original, with the Ω symbol over the centre, but does has a chip at three. This can be swapped if the buyer desires, but lots of our customers would prefer the original so we are leaving that to your choice. The f300 hummer 1260 movement is running sweetly, and the date is changing correctly too. This movement is based on the ESA9164, a twelve jewel movement considered by many to be the best electronic movement ever made. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred. We selected the strap based on the one shown on the Omega website, and think it suits perfectly, but it is a matter of personal taste. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.
