This automatic men’s Omega de Ville is not perfect, but it is wearable and different too. Model reference 151.0051.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1972. The Omega reference book shows a silver dial version from 1974, but it is still good to see them side by side to compare.
CONDITION
If this was a commonplace model we might not have offered it for sale, but it has enough redeeming features to warrant it being interesting. The thing that might have stopped us is the top of the dial has oxidised, and the top two corners of the rehaut are white, as pointed out in the video. But reference 151.0051 is not one you see very often, and the good parts are the movement, case and originality. The watch is signed on the movement, dial, case, crown and even the acrylic glass has the Ω logo. The movement is the calibre 711, a slim 24 jewel automatic wind movement with fine adjustment. The movement sits behind a screw down case back, with the Omega de Ville logo embossed on it. The case and glass are good, and the blue part of the dial isn’t bad. The white hands against the blue background are very legible. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
