While the Emerald name was never officially used by Omega, they commonly called this now.  Model reference 511.0374

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

As shown on Omega’s own website, this model was first launched in 1971.  From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1972.

CONDITION

The emerald collection was designed by the Queen’s jeweler, Andrew Grima, and were distinct thanks to the thick emerald cut crystals.  This exact model features in the first photo referencing this collection on Omega’s A Journey Through Time book, considered their best reference book to date (and budget £500 if you want to buy a copy, presuming you can find one).   The crystal on this watch is cut with several facets on the side, probably best should in the video.  Running a nail around the edge of the crystal reveals no chips or nibbles.  The golden dial has a few small marks, but it is a small dial and they are not very noticeable on the wrist.  The movement is Omega’s calibre 485, with manual winding and 17 jewels, and all working well.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with the Omega presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
