An exceptionally clean Omega Geneve, recently serviced, and with the original box.  Model reference 166.0098

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the inscription on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being presented by Boots to  in 1974.  However from the serial number we know the watch was made in 1972.  Either year could be considered correct for a birth year watch, but 1974 is a bit more prominent.

CONDITION

This watch was serviced  in 2016, and we have a receipt for the work carried out totaling £404.  It doesn’t appear to have been worn much since, as the new Hirsch strap fitted then looks unmarked.  This model was launched in 1971 according to Omega’s own website, and features a 20 micron gold plated case that was water resistant to 30m back then.  This model features an Omega 1481 automatic movement, and it has a quick set date function that is still working – you push the crown inwards to activate it, but only do this before 8pm on the watch as is good practice with all calendar watches.  The dial is superb, not a word we use lightly, and this is the best Omega Geneve we have ever had.  The bottom right lug has a ding, but otherwise everything is excellent.  The crystal and crown are both signed with the Ω logo too.  Finding a better one will be very hard.

This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
