The Patek Philippe Calatrava has been THE dress watch ever since it’s first introduction in 1932. Model reference 3520.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Reference 3520 was introduced in 1965. We are requested more information from Patek Philippe about exactly when this watch was made, and provided them with detailed photographs, and they have confirmed it was made in 1972 but actually sold on Valentines day 1973.
CONDITION
The first Calatrava, reference 96, was launched to help Patek Philippe survive the great depression. They unwittingly set the bar for what a good dress watch should be, and people have aspired to a Calatrava ever since.
This watch is in very nice condition. The dial is perfect, as are the hands and hour markers. The ultra thin case is good, with just light marks to the 18k white gold. The movement is the Patek Philippe calibre 175, a very slim manual wind movement which is, as you would expect, exquisitely finished. It is running well and keeping great time. The buckle is also the original Patek Philippe item in 0.750 white gold, stamped correctly on the inside. This is a small watch by modern standards, but the 18mm lugs help it feel a little larger. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred. Overall this is a fine example of the ultimate dress watch.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box, the Extract from the Archives and our Certificate of Authenticity.
