Lozenge shaped case.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
After comparison to the Smiths annual catalogues, we can accurately date this watch to 1971.
This watch was from near the end of Smiths watches production, and is Swiss made rather than made in England. The dial has a couple of small marks, especially around the roman numerals that have lost some of the detail. There is also some bubbling of the plate near the acrylic crystal. However the case hasn’t lost any plating on the corners and neither has it got any significant dings. It is a large size for the time too, which is popular today. Fitted to a new strap, as over the years the original bracelet has been replaced.
23.8mm wide including the crown, 9.1mm thick. Takes a 16mm strap.
