This Seiko Pepsi automatic chronograph is the cousin to the more expensive Pogue, but with the blue dial as apposed to the gold.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in January 1971. The movement was introduced in 1969, and competes for the oft debated title of first automatic chronograph movement. Hodinkee did a nice write up here of the debate.
CONDITION
The dial is very good, and the lume plots are all an even colour. The case and bezel have taken a few knocks over the years, with a scratch on the case near 7 being the worst mark. The glass is perfect. The inner bezel and all the quick set functions work perfectly. The early, straight H link bracelet is a good size and has the Seiko clasp. The chronograph is all functioning as it should, and the automatic only movement is keeping good time as you would expect. The day wheel is in English and French.
We have included a photo of this exact watch on top of a 1969 french advert, and we even set the time, day and date to match.
This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
