This 1971 Citizen Leopard has the stainless steel parawater case and the 24 jewel automatic movement. Model reference 4-720539Y.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in March 1971.
CONDITION
The Leopard models were launched in 1969, and only ran for a few year but nevertheless had up to twenty variations of case and movement. All were automatic, and some had the 77xx calibres that beat at 36,000 bph. This one has the 7210 calibre which is still high beat, but a more normal (at least for today) 28,800 bph – that is 8 ticks per second, allowing for a very smooth seconds hand ‘sweep’. One thing we can confirm is that this is running superbly – +3 seconds per day on our timegrapher, which is within COSC chronometer specifications. The case is what is called C-Case, with the thick lugs associated with the Omega Constellation of the time. There is a few small marks on the case, and the curved glass has a few more too. But the dial is good, and the skeleton hands are straight. The watch has quick set date and hacks for precision time setting. The bracelet is quite short, but could always be swapped for a leather strap if your wrist is too large for this bracelet.
