HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We can date this watch by two methods. From the serial number we can say it was made in 1971, but the original paperwork shows it was sold in 1974. Either year could be a valid birth year watch year.
CONDITION
If this watch looks familiar to you, it is because we have had this exact watch before. I was one of a number of watches sold to the same customer, who then sold us a number of watches (including this) in order for them to be able to buy their grail watch. If you recognise this behaviour, then you understand the dilemma of the watch collector!
The watch is running superbly, and all the photos and videos are taken since the watch has returned to us. Square, or TV dial watches wear quite large on the wrist – this article explains the maths, but the 22mm leather strap also adds to the feeling of size. You can see this model on Omega’s own website here. There was a speck of dirt under the crystal in the photos and video between 8 and 9, which we have now removed.
Please see the HD video for more detail. All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned. We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
