HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1971. But the London hallmark is for 1972, so it must have been made in 1971 and imported into the UK in 1972.
CONDITION
The cheapest new Omega for women is the steel, quartz De Ville that currently costs £2,130. So why is a solid gold, manual wind 1972 ladies Omega only £299? The answer is that there are fewer lady watch collectors than watches, so they have the pick of the best without spending a fortune. This watch has the elliptical case that was so on trend at the time, a golden dial that has a matte shimmer (if that makes sense!) and powering this is a manual wind calibre 485 movement which is running well. The crown is signed and is likely the original. The genuine lizard leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred. The original buckle is still fitted, also signed with Omega’s Ω logo.
