From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in January 1970.
CONDITION
The Bell-Matic models have become very popular in recent years. The sizes suit modern tastes, and the alarm complication is a cool addition to any collection. This particular watch has the 27 jewel version of the 4006A Seiko movement. This movement is auto winding only, as it was designed, but you manually wind the alarm and switch it on with the pusher at 2. To set the time of the alarm you use the crown to rotate the inner bezel backwards until the right time ion the next 12 hours is reached – ideal for those long meetings or to make a train connection!
The black dial on this watch has some light fading to the centre, and the case appears to have been polished at some point. We have cleaned the acrylic crystal to remove all scratches, and fitted a new 19mm leather strap. The case back has various tool marks, but these can’t be seen when the watch is being worn. The inner bezel rotates smoothly, and the quick set date works correctly (the day is not quickset, and this is how it was designed).
This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
