A highly sort after model, this Longines Ultronic proves that divers watches are better with added orange! Model reference 8484.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
After sending photos to Longines of the dial, caseback and movement they have accurately dated this watch to being made in 1970.
CONDITION
70’s divers watches are cool. Electronic watches are cool. Longines watches are cool. An electronic 1970’s divers Longines Ultronic is sub zero! The orange bezel is very bright, and matches the orange minute hand superbly. the bezel still clicks unidirectionally as intended to ensure divers don’t run out of air. The white second hand sweeps incredibly smoothly thanks to the nicely finished Longines 6312 movement (a rebadged ESA 9312) humming away at 300hz. That is hidden away behind a screw down case back. The matte black dial has hour markers that float about the dial rather than being fixed to it, which gives a nice effect. The only odd thing is that this watch doesn’t state what the water resistance was when new – the signed crown doesn’t screw down so think more scuba than deep sea, but vintage watches should not get wet anyway
