A rarely found ladies IWC cocktail watch, with their manual wind movement squeezed into a small case. Model reference 4108.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1970.
CONDITION
International Watch Company, or IWC, famously ran a very ‘blokey’ advertising campaign in the 1990’s with campaign strap lines like ‘Almost as complicated as a Woman – except it’s on time’. At that moment they didn’t offer women’s watches, but they quickly backed down and started making women’s watches again. This cocktail watch pre dates all that, but ladies IWC’s are still rare to see. On top of that, this watch has a C shaped case with strong lugs that is unusual on ladies watches. This is a clean looking, simple dial with good legibility. The treat is actually the movement – finely finished with Côtes de Genève striping and micro adjustment on the balance. Calibre 412 is hand wound, so will never need a battery. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case and movement.
