This Longines 9k gold watch is a larger than average case size, and in better than average condition too.  Model reference 64287.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this to being made in 1968.  The hallmark in the inside of the case back is for 1970, so the date these two were put together would not have been before 1970.  But the most obvious dating tool is the nice engraving on the case back for 29th July 1972, so we can say made in 1970 and likely gifted in 1972.

CONDITION

The worst part of this watch is the crown isn’t signed by Longines.  Everything else is great!  The original dial with 3, 6 and 12 applied numbers and subseconds at 6 has just very light patina you would expect with age.  The case wears much larger than the average 33mm case size of this period, helped by the thin bezel so you see more dial.  Inside the case back is correctly stamped for Baume, who as well as making their own watches were the importer for Longines and Vacheron Constantin.  The hand winding Longines movement, calibre 490, is a treat to interactive with and is all working as it should.   The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
