DX was short for Deluxe, and that luxury feeling does shine though. Model reference 6106-8080
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in May 1969.
CONDITION
Seiko had a variety of sub brand names at this time. The top of the range were the Grand Seiko, then King Seiko, Lord Matic and then DX.(there were speciality watches such as Chronographs or the Bell-Matic Alarm watches that didn’t fit into this structure as well). Under the DX were the Seiko 5 (but some were co signed DX), and then the regular watches. So the DX is best considered a Seiko 5, with a touch more.
This watch is in good shape for 50+ years. The graining on the C style case is clearly visible still, and the dial is clean. The 6106B 25 jewel automatic movement is running well, but a word of warning – these can only be automatically wound so suit a more active person. This calibre also has quick set date, hacking and the day wheel is in English only. The stainless steel case has a few small marks, all forgivable given the age of the watch. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
