HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in February 1969.
CONDITION
The Seiko 5 range was launched in 1963, and it is still the go-to automatic watch for value for money. This watch has a decent sized cushion shaped stainless steel case, marked waterproof on the case back. Seiko switched to water resistant in the early seventies, despite the same case sealing designs, and the earlier watches are generally preferred by collectors. Inside is a 21 jewel Seiko calibre 6119B which is correct for the model – the first part of the model reference 6119-6000 refers to the movement series, so always double check that on any watch you are considering. This automatic wind only movement also has quick set date, actioned by pushing the crown inwards, and a day calendar in English. The dial is clean, and having the logos on the left balance the day and date feature nicely. The dial also has the logo of the Suwa factory. The watch would have originally been on a bracelet but this has been lost over the years. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
