A rarer manual wind 1969 Omega Geneve, with the earlier calibre 601 movement. Model reference 135.041
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1969.
CONDITION
In 1969 Omega began phasing out the earlier 600 series movements in favour of the 1000 series. Collectors seem to prefer the earlier 600 series, possibly because the movement is better finished and we all like shiny things! This model was first launched in 1968 and always was designed to come with a leather strap, as confirmed on Omega’s own website here. It was also designed to be waterproof to 30m, and while we do not suggest getting any vintage watch wet the waterproof cases are still desirable, as they help keep all the other dirt out of the case. This helps explain why the dial is still so nice, and this watch never had any lume on the dial or hands. The signed crown is still present, and these movement do have a lovely feel to them when winding. It is very tactile, but you will understand when you wind it for the first time. The strap and buckle do have some logos on but we don’t think they came from the Omega factory – we are happy to swap them for a standard leather strap and buckle if preferred. The advantage of the silver dial and case combination is that you can add any colour strap you want.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
